Margaret Berniece Eilers Davis, 79, passed peacefully from this temporary home to her eternal home on Friday, April 20, 2018 surrounded by her family after a brave fight against cancer.
Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles “Red” Dean Davis, Sr., her parents and four sisters.
She is survived by her three children; Dianna Davis (Pat), Betriece Grimes (Greg), Charles Davis, Jr. (Rolanda), and a brother, Leo Eilers,Jr. Her joy was found in her grandchildren, Colby Davis-Landers and wife Amber, Lexi Grimes, Tandra and Rachel Davis, and her great-grandchildren Keegan, Hudson, Zaylee and Lillie. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and close family and friends.
Margaret was born on March 27, 1939 in Clarksville Texas to Leo and Berniece Eilers. The family lived in Lorraine, before settling in Abilene where Margaret attended school at Butterfield/Wylie.
She met “Red” Davis while working at a local Drug Store and the two married on November 23, 1957. Together they ran a family oil business until his death in 1985 and she retired from May ISD in 2000.
Margaret had a servant’s heart. She and Red were known for their kindness, compassion and generosity. They frequently opened their home to family and friends, and helped others through difficult times.
She also lived in Lake Brownwood for many years where she loved being surrounded by hummingbirds, wildflowers, her garden and feeding the deer. She was a member of North Lake Community Church.
Margaret had a great love for music, nature and caring for her kids. She truly lived life to the fullest, enjoying every moment, especially those with family.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel at 5750 Hwy 277 S in Abilene followed by a private graveside service with the immediate family. The family will receive visitors on Monday evening April 23, 2018 from 6:00 till 8:00 pm at Elmwood Funeral Home.
In keeping with her giving nature, Margaret asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, Meals on Wheels or your favorite charity.
My thoughts and prayers are with Margaret's family. Fly with angels Margaret.
