A.C. Nelson

A.C. Nelson, 91 1/2, went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, July 20, 2016. Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:30 PM Friday, July 22, 2016 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, July 23, 2016 at View Baptist Church, 250 Boynton Road. Interment will follow in Caps Cemetery.

A.C. was born December 28, 1924 in Bryant, Oklahoma to W.W. "Will" and Minnie Gertrude Westbrook Nelson. He married Dorothy Carnahan, his wife of 67 years, on August 7, 1949 in Baird, Texas. A.C. was a colorful man, who lived a full life, had fun and loved attention. He loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

A.C. served three years in the United States Army, serving in Germany during World War II. Over the years, he worked for J.D. Anderson Van Lines, Sunset Motor Line and the oilfield. He later worked and retired as a heavy machine operator for Taylor County.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Nelson; four children, Sally Ann Miller, Angela Carol Everett, Donald Curtis Nelson and wife, Ronda, and Johnny Paul Nelson; nine grandchildren, Chad Young, Cori Nelson, Amanda Nelson, Andrew Nelson, Abigail Nelson, Michael Ford, Nicole Smith, Donald Nelson and Brittany Nelson; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Olga, Lester, Ollie, Gerald, Georgia Lee, Billy and Bobby.

Pallbearers will be Chad Young, Michael Ford, Andrew Nelson, Donald Nelson, Ray Roberts, Recil Adams, Gary Nelson and Mike Nelson. Honorary pallbearers are Britt Tidmore and Kerry Hensley.
