Adron C. AC Johnson passed away at the age of 89 on October 20, 2014 in his hometown of Abilene, Texas.
Visitation will be held at Elmwood Funeral Home Wednesday, October 22nd from 57 pm. Services will be held at First Baptist Church Abilene at 2 pm Thursday, October 23rd with graveside services at Elmwood Memorial Park following.
Mr. Johnson was born on June 15, 1925 to James Lee and Mollie D Johnson in Stamford, Texas. Upon graduation from Stamford High School, he joined the US Navy and became a sonar operator on a destroyer escort during World War II. On August 22, 1948 Adron married the late Imogene Barlow Johnson. Together they raised two children, Ronda and Russell.
Adron was a selfemployed tax accountant, who also served as the comptroller for Stamford Cotton Oil Company for 30 years as well as the auditor for Sun Supply in Abilene for the following 20 years. AC enjoyed a close friendship with God and was an active member of First Baptist Church where he served as treasurer of the Adult I Sunday school class. He was a member of The Lions Club in Stamford and has been a member of The Kiwanis Club of Abilene since 1980.
Adron enjoyed in no particular order vanilla ice cream, breakfast, a good joke, dove hunting, Merle Haggard, cluttering his office, Texas Ranger baseball, gardening, spoiling his grandchildren, vanilla ice cream, Stamford Bulldog football, Ray Price, grafting his prized pecan trees, and naps in his recliner.
Mr. Johnson is preceded in death by his parents his loving wife of 55 years, Imogene his sisters,
Thomas Earl Crawford and Hazel Lee Stein his brothers, Amos T. and Alton Paul Johnson and soninlaw, Jerry Haire.
He is survived by daughter, Ronda Haire of Abilene son and daughterinlaw, Russell and Karen Johnson of Midland brotherinlaw, Bill Barlow grandchildren, Austin, Sarah, Molly, Brian, Taylor, Travis, Lara and Trevor his pride and joy great granddaughter, Lilly and his second family, the staff at The Oaks at Radford Hills.
Pallbearers include his five grandsons and brotherinlaw Bill Barlow. Honorary pallbearers are the members of his Sunday school class.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church Abilene or First Baptist Church Stamford.
