Alan Bailey

Alan Benjamin Bailey, 51, passed away May 1, 2018 in Abilene. Visitation for family and friends will be 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM, Friday, May 4, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5410 Buffalo Gap Road.
He was born to Laura and Ira Bailey in Panama, Canal Zone at Albrook Air Force Base on January 9, 1967. Alan's role as a father to his four children was the focus of his life. It is what drove him, what motivated him and what made him the man that he was. Because of that devotion to his children they in turn looked to him as not just a dad but a best friend, and their very own super hero. He took that same spirit and applied it to his role as a coach, mentoring, caring and loving countless children. Alan's home had an open-door policy, where anyone was welcome and always included. He was an artist at heart, being an accomplished musician and home renovator. Alan also had a passion for working on cars, rebuilding many of his own while helping so many others build theirs. Alan was a natural teacher with a selfless desire to share his knowledge with anyone willing to learn, whether it be music, home improvement, automotive, coaching, fathering, sound systems, boating, weight lifting, skating or nutrition and if he didn't know how to teach it he would encourage you to learn it. He was born a natural athlete, running track and field, playing baseball, football and excelling in basketball which earned him a college scholarship. His perseverance to be the best he could be, while maintaining humility and throwing in a good dose of humor made him one of the most likeable guys you'd ever meet. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and his family rejoices in knowing he is home...

Alan was preceded in death by his father, Ira Bailey.
He is survived by his children, Taylor Bailey, Nic Bailey, Keli Bailey, Kaleigh Chavez and husband Marcus; his mother, Lala; his earthly angel and fiancé, Laurie Velasquez; his sister, Jackie and family; his brother, John Bailey and wife Pie and family; his brother, Paul Bailey and wife Michelle and family; mother and father-in-law, George and Brenda Black and family; sister and brother-in-law, Frank and Sherry Ferrante and family; Chico, Rocko, and his "reptillions".
