Aldon AJ Davis, friend and companion to all, passed away peacefully at his home October 9, 2012. He was 89. His funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 13th in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with interment following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time on Saturday.
AJ was born on December 30, 1922 in Old Glory, Texas and graduated from Old Glory High School in 1940. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on his 18th birthday and was assigned to the 4th Ferrying Command Group as an In Flight Engineer out of Memphis, TN during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1944. He retired in 1994 after 43 years as business manager with Local 21 International Union of Heat and Frost Insulators in Dallas.
AJs family was always an important part of his life. He loved collecting automobiles and always enjoyed finding a good deal.
Survivors include his son, Mark Davis grandchildren, Jason Keith Pyland and Renee Marie Davis his brother, Raymond Grimm Davis and many nieces and nephews.
His wife, Hettie Lois Thane Davis, his daughter, Linda J. Davis Pyland, seven brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
