Alice Gobert

March 28, 1946 — April 29, 2017

Alice Faye Gobert was born March 28, 1946 in Abilene, Texas, to Annie Mae White and Otha Thomas and Stepdad Ernest Edmond. She attended and graduated from Woodson High School in Abilene, Texas class of 1964. She furthered her education at Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas, where she received a Licensed Vocational Nurse degree.

After receiving her LVN she returned to Abilene and began her life long career at Abilene State School. She worked tirelessly for 41 years before retiring. She loved working with the clients and all the various staff members that became like family to her throughout the years.

Faye accepted Christ at an early age and was a dedicated member of Minda Street Church of Christ, Abilene, Texas, for over 30+ years. She served on the Food Committee, worked with the Visitation Team, assisted with the elderly, and worked whereever she could in the church using her talents to serve the Lord.

Faye was the "neighborhood" mom. With three sons and one daughter, her house was always overflowing with their friends. She was a great football mom, supporting her sons and ALL their friends at Shotwell Stadium. Under those Friday night lights, you could not miss her "Xena-cry" whenever Abilene Cooper did something great on the field.

Faye was an exceptional cook. If you were fortunate enough to sample her banana pudding, 7-Up cake, or peach cobbler you know that she had a talent in the kitchen.

Faye was the proud mom of Michael, Michele, Dwayne and Eric. She loved her children unconditionally. She was the favorite Aunt to numerous nephews and nieces. She was the grandmother of eleven and great-grandmother of three. To her children, she was "Mama". To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was "Nanny". She loved her blended family and they loved her back whole heartedly.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Mary "Shirley" Burnett.

She leaves to cherish her memory her four children. Son, Michael (Yolanda) Gobert of Manor, Texas. Daughter, Michele (Jesse) Sams of Lubbock, Texas. Son, Milton Dwayne Gobert of Abilene, Texas. Son, Eric (LaToya) Gobert of Austin, Texas. Her grandchildren Talicia (Chad), Rodney, Jaelyn, Tatiana, Haley, Zyire, Eric, Jr., Amarea, Amber, Justin, Jennifer, and Namiah. And great-grandchildren Maryah, Chad, Jr. and Jacorey. Also four brothers Billy Jean Thomas, James Thomas, Danny K. (Dee) Edmond and Patrick Edmond and one sister Breannett Thomas-Brooks She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
