Alice Rhodes was born to Victor & Francisca Salazar in El Paso, Texas on August 14, 1935, one of eight children. She graduated with numerous academic honors from Bowie High School in El Paso including salutatorian of her graduating class.

Alice met her beloved husband Bill Rhodes while he was stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas, serving in the U.S. Army. They were married for 52 years before his death in 2009. During their marriage they welcomed 3 sons: Gary, Bill and Tim. The family lived in El Paso where Bill worked for Chevron. While with Chevron the family was relocated to Midland for ten years and then to Abilene. They decided to make Abilene their permanent home and Bill went into the insurance business. Alice was a proud mother and a full time homemaker for 17 years and absolutely loved her role of wife and mother. Her whole life was dedicated to her family and to her church. With her sons getting ready to leave for college, she entered the work force. Alice worked for Abilene Diagnostic Clinic as a medical transcriptionist for 14 years before leaving to work for Hendrick Medical Center. She later retired from Hendrick Medical Center at which time she started her own medical transcription service in her home.

Having been present since the inception of Holy Family Catholic Church in Abilene, she and her husband Bill were actively involved in all aspects of the parish, especially in the area of Christian Education. Together they were religious education teachers for 37 years, which was something very dear to both of them.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Norma and Magdelena, and her beloved husband of 52 years Bill Rhodes.

She is survived by her three sons: Gary and Suzanne Rhodes of Abilene, Bill Rhodes of San Antonio, and Tim Rhodes of Lubbock; seven grandchildren: Gary Rhodes II and wife Maria; Alyson Rhodes; Krysten Ughanze and husband Odira, Will Rhodes and wife Kate, Rebecca Rhodes, Travis Rhodes, and Samuel Rhodes; 5 great grandchildren: Grace, Atticus, Chloe and Victoria Rhodes, and Sage Ughanze; 3 sisters: Irma Wright, Aida Quade (Bob), and Yoli Avila; 2 brothers: Victor Salazar (Irma) and George Salazar (Pam); numerous nieces, nephews and many beloved friends.
