Alice Rios

Alice Rios, 92, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2022 in Abilene, Texas. A private service was held.


Alice was born March 1, 1930 in Bueyeros, New Mexico to Merejildo and Apolonia Trujillo. The family moved from their ranch in Bueyeros to Clayton, New Mexico and Alice graduated from Clayton High School. She met Joseph Rios the love her life in Albuquerque, NM while he was serving at Kirtland Air Force Base. They married in 1950 and Alice proudly lived the military life that Joseph had created for her and their family. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage until his passing in 2013. She was a director for Day Nursery of Abilene for 17 years, she also received an associate degree from Texas Women's University during this time. Alice was a faithful member of Ambler Baptist Church for many years. Alice and Joseph enjoyed traveling the country through the years; camping as a family with the children, in later years with the Good Sam Club or touring with Bilbrey Tours. Alice also enjoyed quilting and most of all spending time with all of her family. Alice was loved dearly and will be missed.


She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Rios; her daughters, Norma Farmer, and Rebecca Dixon; her parents, Merejildo and Apolonia Trujillo, and her siblings, Ben Trujillo, Salomon Trujillo, John Trujillo, Gilbert Trujillo, Victoria Martinez, and Gavino Trujillo.


Alice is survived by her son, Michael Rios and wife Ruth; four daughters, Dolores Owens and husband Steven, Christine Creed and husband Ronnie, Maria Tolentino and husband Eddie, and Lynda Mounts and husband Scott; her grandchildren, Robin Oekerman, Arly Farmer, Alison Flores and husband Brandon, Dameeka Cox, Christopher Creed and wife Amy, Micah Creed and wife Christin, Matthew Tolentino, Jennifer Robledo and husband Gilbert, Joshua Tolentino and wife Danielle, Reagan Mounts, and Harrison Mounts; great-grandchildren, Jinjer, Olive, Dahlia, Arly Jr., Camryn, Dylan, Caidyn, Julia, Timothy, Natalie, Leon, Gabriella, Gracelyn, Madilyn, Alexander; and one great great-grandchild, Daniel.
