Allie Jane McKenzie went home to heaven on Tuesday, October 22nd, 2024, in Frisco, Texas.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home Family Center, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas. Allie's funeral service will take place on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel located at 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, TX, with interment to follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.
She was born in Mineral Springs, Arkansas to David and Pearl Gowen, Allie moved to Reedley, California, with her family in 1945.
She attended Reedley High School and graduated in 1953. Allie was baptized at Dinuba CFC, CA, marking the foundation of her values that she would carry throughout her life. On February 5, 1955, in Midland, TX, Allie married Boyce McKenzie. They settled in Abilene, TX in the 1960s. She was a loving mother to her four children as well as a loving wife to her husband Boyce.
A dedicated and skilled bookkeeper for many years, Allie's professional journey included a great partnership with Boyce, where together they operated two gas stations and a wrecker service in Abilene during the 1970s and 1980s. Cooking, playing card games, and spending time with her family were some of the things she enjoyed most.
Allie leaves behind her daughter, Kathy Wilson (Richard) of Frisco, TX; her sister, Maggie Patterson of Fresno, CA; her brother, Dave (Nancy) Gowen of Coeur D. Alene, ID; and her son-in-law, David Merkle of Wichita, KS; her granddaughters: Summer Smith (Jeff) of Sulphur Springs, TX; Karen Merkle Kamani (Francisco) of Phoenix, AZ; and Jody Merkle of Wichita, KS; her great-grandchildren: Chelsey Fite (Sara), Austin Smith, Jordan Smith (Autumn), Jody Merkle Jr, and Conner Merkle.
She is preceded in death by, her daughter, Loretta Merkle (David); her sons, Dennis McKenzie (Linda) and Don McKenzie (Linda); her sisters, Anna Eastwood, Winnie Henry, Josephine Smith (JB), and Dean Holder (Ralph); her brother, Lester Gowen; her brother- in-law, Charles Patterson; her sister-in-law, Evelyn Gowen; her great-grandchild, CeCe Jeffery.
May Allie's memory be cherished by her loved ones, and may her legacy continue to inspire future generations.
