Alneer Mac McFadden, 88, passed away, Thursday, March 24, 2011 in Abilene. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday in the Garden of Peace at Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.
Mr. McFadden was born on November 22, 1922 in Amarillo the son of Alneer McFadden Sr. and Bessie Hancock McFadden. He graduated from Mineral Wells High School and later attended Abilene Christian College. He married Elsie Corine Roy on May 7, 1944. Mac was selfemployed as a paint contractor in Abilene for many years. He had a beautiful Tenor voice and sang in several Barber Shop Quartets. Earlier in life he was a minister at Sewell Street Church of Christ here in Abilene, and filled in on a regular basis for Churches of Christ in Cisco and Olney. He was a member of the Northwest Church of Christ where he served as an Elder for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Corine McFadden of Abilene two children, Debbie Spivey and Wayne McFadden and wife Pam all of Abilene five grandchildren, Sarah McFadden, Jacob McFadden, Jason Spivey and Zachary Spivey two brothers, Morris McFadden of San Angelo and Guy O. McFadden of Abilene 2 sistersinlaw, Louise Sundell and Doris Stockard two brothersinlaw, Fred Roy and George Roy and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents and three sisters, Virginia McFadden, Janell Burk and Hilda McFadden preceded him in death.
Memorial donations are suggested to Sears Hospice Care or Northwest Church of Christ, Missionary Fund.
