Alton Jordan

June 19, 1937 — December 6, 2013

Alton L. Shorty Jordan, 76 of Abilene, passed away Friday, December 6, 2013 at his home after a battle with cancer. Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South with Paul Matta Officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 10, 2013 from 5:30 7:30 at Elmwood Funeral Home.

Alton was born June 19, 1937 to Charlie and Ruby Jordan in Callahan County. He lived most of his life in Abilene or the Abilene area. After school he served our country in the U.S. Army. His lifelong career was centered around the trucking industry which he owned and operated his own and also drove for numerous companies. He also spent many years in different areas of the oilfield including time spent in Saudi Arabia. He always took great pride in his work.
Alton was a man that you could count on, if he told you he was going to do something for you, you could consider it done.

He is survived by daughter, Melinda Wilson and husband David of Abilene son, Michael Jordan of Waxahachie stepdaughter, Regina Barton of Abilene stepsons, Ricky Ford and wife Lisa of Graham, Randy Ford of Abilene Grandchildren, Stormey Morris and husband Gerad of Saginaw, Skylar Jordan of Merkel, Kelby Jordan of Eastland, Greg Crane and wife Carmen of Abilene 3 greatgrandchildren, Cadon, Jackson, and Kinsley Crane of Abilene One good friend Mary Sue Riskus.

The family would like to express great thanks to the staff of Kinder Hearts Hospice for the amazing job and wonderful care that was given to our loved one, also, Mary Sue gave of herself in a most caring manner.
