Mrs. Anastacia Ann Elizabeth Schatz Smith of Eula, Texas passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at the Eula United Methodist Church. A private inurnment will be held on Monday, May 16, at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, Texas.

Ann was a member of Eula United Methodist Church. She was born September 29, 1923 to parents Otila ne Dinius and Balzer Schatz of Hebron, Morton County, North Dakota. She attended St. Marys Catholic High School in Bismarck, ND where she loved playing sports, especially basketball and badminton. She was a member of NCO Wives Club where she held numerous offices, a member of the Abilene Model A Club, and she sold Tupperware for several years. She worked as a volunteer for the Dyess AFB Hospital, the Dyess Girl Scouts, and for Eulas food bank.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Eve, Jean, and Rosie.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Verle Max Smith sisters, Polly Boykin of Vacaville, CA and Alice Beers of Seattle, WA brothers, Anton Tony Schatz of Tacoma, WA and Leo Schatz of Hurdsfield, ND her sons and daughtersinlaw, Steven and Irlynda Smith of Tuscola, TX and Gary and Dawn Smith of Santa Anna, TX her daughter and soninlaw, Candace and Jim Martin of Fitzgerald, GA 5 grandchildren, Ashley Martin of Modesto, CA, Josh Martin of Norfolk, VA, Caitlin Martin of Kennesaw, GA, Anna Smith Bankston and husband Tommy of Spring, TX, and Travis Smith and wife Chant of Abilene, TX and 3 great grandchildren, Hunter and Addison Bankston and Jarrett Martin.
