Andy retired after 20 years of service as a Master Sergeant in October 1982. While in the Air Force, Andy found and married his life partner Irene Polk in June 1970. This wedded union blessed them with four children: Vickie Annette Coe, Kimberly Lene Coe, Andre Lavelle Phillip Coe and Anthony Ray Coe. Andy took personal pride in seeing all of his children attend and complete college.
After retirement, Andy fulfilled a lifelong dream of putting his best skills together to open his own barbecue restaurant. With the help of his children and wife, Andy opened Andys CBar6 BarBQ Steak House in Stamford, Texas. The restaurant served up the best in stuffed baked potatoes, homemade bread, peach cobbler and, of course, the finest barbecue and steaks West Texas has ever seen. Andy ran this restaurant successfully for a decade before officially retiring to dedicate more time to his family, church and community.
Andy gave his life to the Lord early in life and was a valued member of Plum Street United Methodist Church. He served in any capacity asked of him, but took special delight serving as Chairman of the Administrative Board at Plum Street, Superintendant of Sunday School, a Delegate of the Annual Northwest TexasNew Mexico Conference, the lead singer in Plum Street Mens Quartet and most recently, a member of the Plum Street Choir. The Plum Street church family became part of his family as he often spoke so fondly of many of the members. It was there that he came to have a special union with Fay Black.
