Angel T. Alvarez, 81, of Abilene passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in Abilene.
A funeral service will be held Saturday September 19 at 10:00 AM at St. Francis Catholic Church, 826 Cottonwood Abilene, TX 79601. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Rosary will be held Friday at 7:00 PM followed by visitation with the family until 9:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home.
Angel was born on October 11, 1933 in Abilene, TX to the late Ramon Alvarez and Juana Treviso Alvarez. He married Lily Marquez on September 28, 1953 and they had 61 wonderful years of marriage together. Angel worked as a roofer for Lydic Hooks Roofing for over 30 years until his retirment. He loved to laugh and have fun. Angel loved baseball having played it at an early age and he taught his children the game. He loved chocolate, playing cards, fishing and gardening. Angel loved wheel of fortune and especially Vanna White. He was a dedicated father, husband and grandfather and he will be fondly remembered by his favorite quote, "I'm Easy".
Angel is survived by his wife, Lily Alvarez; children, Dolores Castillo of Weatherford, SueAnn Moa of Abilene, Angel Alvarez Jr. of Abilene; grandchildren, Michelle Sanchez and husband Danny, Melissa Trevino, Melinda Trevino, Gavino Trevino and wife Ibon, Miguel Castillo and wife Crissy, Jo Angel Alvarez; 12 great grandchildren; siblings, Mary Hernandez and husband Tony, Kay Tinajera and husband Gilbert, Joe Alvarez and wife Dora, brother In-law, Jack Marquez; sister in-laws who lovingly cared for him, Peggy Santana, Blondie Carrion, Rachel Arellano; Phillip Flores and Ricky Flores who enjoyed a special sons like relationship; numerous dear family and friends.
Angel was also preceded in death by his daughter, Vicky Alvarez; brother, Pete Alvarez; son in-law, Adam Moa; grandson, Louie Castillo.
