Angelita "Jela" Reyes (78) of Abilene died Wednesday, August 10, 2016. Visitation will be 4:00 till 6:00 PM, Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, August 15, 2016 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel and presided by Pastor Leighton Lockett. Interment services will follow at Elliot-Hamil Garden of Memories.
She was born August 2, 1938 in Pawnee, TX to Charles and Felipa Ramirez. In 1959 Angelita met Jose Reyes Sr., the love of her life and they married on May 2, 1960 and started a family. Angelita loved sports, supported her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their events. She was a devoted Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan. You best not disturb her during a Cowboy or Ranger game unless you were there to watch the game with them.
Angelita is survived by her husband Jose; daughter, Carol and her husband Mike Zullo; son, Jose Jr. and his wife Deanna Reyes; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one great-grand-daughter due in October; siblings, Antonia R. Cisneros, Reyes Alaniz, Ramona Garza, Lionor and her husband Jerry Davila, and Ernestina and her husband Jerry Rupp; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mrs. Reyes was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Felipa Ramirez; and her brother, Carol Ramirez Jr.
Pallbearers for the service will be her grandsons, John Michael Jaramillo, Marcus Rey Jaramillo, Michael Patrick Zullo; nephews Andres Gamon, Rey Villanueva, Efren Villanueva, Octaviano Villanueva, and Antonio Villanueva.
Honorary Pallbearers for the service will be her nephews Ben Molina, Andres Garcia, and OJ Garcia.
