Anne Carey

Anne Bartlett Carey, 71, passed away June 29, 2014 in Abilene. Visitation will be 6 til 8 PM, Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be 2 PM, Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church, 2801 Antilley Road. Interment will be held Thursday in East Hill Cemetery in Fort Stockton, TX.

Ann was born April 4, 1943 in Amarillo, TX to Frederick and Marion Bechtel Bartlett. She grew up in Ft. Stockton and then graduated from McMurry University with a degree in music. She was the church organist for Westminster Presbyterian for many years. She became the church organist for Zion Lutheran Church in 1994 where she continued serving for almost 20 years. During her time at Zion she was also the director of the handbell choir. Anne married Milton McConnell in 1960 and they had two children. She was remarried in 1972 to Joe L. Carey and they also had two children. She enjoyed arts and crafts, doing ceramics, and needlepoint.

She is survived by her four children, Matt, Bruce, Allison, and John five grandchildren five great grandchildren and two brothers, Sandy and Tom Bartlett.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe one granddaughter, Michelle and her parents.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to Hendrick Hospice Care or Zion Lutheran Church in Annes honor.
