Annie Ruth Denman was born December 26, 1937, to Davidson and Bessie McGinnis in Alexandra, Louisiana.
Funeral Service will be Monday February 27, 2023 at 11:00 am at Holiday Hills Baptist Church 5309 Capital Ave, Abilene, Texas. Visitation at 10:00 am at Holiday Hills prior to the funeral service. Burial at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene 7457 West Lake Rd, Abilene, Texas.
She attended Peabody High School in Alexandria, Louisiana. Annie met the love of her life, L.P. Denman, and married on May 17, 1963.
After a few years of marriage, they moved to Dallas, then to Abilene, always making their home in Texas. Together, they raised six sons who brought much joy and love to Annie's and L.P.'s lives.
In 1978, L.P. and Annie-joined Holiday Hills Baptist Church, where they remained members for many years. Being a native of Louisiana, Annie was the true definition of southern hospitality. She welcomed family and friends into her home for the great pleasure of serving her Louisiana cooking. Annie was not a woman who liked the spotlight, but she could always be found gladly and humbly serving in the background.
Annie worked for Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas, for 17 years. Being a people person, she -touched so many children's lives through this facility and made countless lifelong relationships. She was well-known and loved in the community, and her sweet smile brightened the days of all who knew her. She transitioned on February 17, 2023, in her home in Allen, Texas.
She is preceded in death by husband L.P. Denman, parents Davidson and Bessie McGinnis, her brothers-Jack, Grady and Davidson McGinnis Jr. and sisters-Ruby Shotwell and Catherine Sampson.
She is survived by her brother Jerry (Mary) McGinnis of Alexandria, Louisiana and sister Carla McGinnis of Alexandria, Louisiana; her children-David McGinnis of Allen, Texas, Charles (Wander) McGinnis of Plano, Texas, Darren (Demetria) Denman of Grand Prairie, Texas, Mark (Veronica) Denman of Plano, Texas, Greg Denman of Lewisville, Texas, Chris Denman of The Colony, Texas; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchildren a host of nieces and nephews.
