Antonia Quiroz, 98, died Sunday, August 31, 2008 in Abilene. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at St. Vincent Catholic Church with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6 to 7 PM with Rosary beginning at 7 PM in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South.
Antonia was born on December 28, 1909 in Somerset, Texas the daughter of Susano and Benigna Mata. She was the widow of Francisco Quiroz and had been a resident of Abilene since 1950. She was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church and enjoyed dancing and cooking, her tamalies being a favorite in the family. Antonia lived through five generations and took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Manuel Herrera and wife Dora of Brigham City, Utah, Leonor Rivera, Victoria Lang, Elva DeLaCruz, Minga Ramos all of Abilene, Marie Benton and husband Rod of Bullhead City, Arizona, Ramona Rodriquez of Flint, Michigan; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Her husband and sons, Antonio Herrera, Jose Luis Herrera, Frank Herrera, Jose Clementa Herrera and David Quiroz preceded her in death.
The family would like to express their thanks to the nurses and aides of Hospice of the Big Country for the loving care given to Mrs. Quiroz.
