Antonina Holder

Antonina Lee Holder, 89, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013 in Abilene. Her graveside service will be held at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, August 14th at Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.

Antonina was the sixth child born to Domenico Pupella and Giuseppina Mercurio. She was raised in Providence, Rhode Island and has been a resident of Abilene for over 60 years. She worked hard to obtain her LVN license from the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing later in life and served tirelessly as a caregiver to many in the Abilene community. Lee worked over 20 years for Hendrick Medical Center on the orthopedic floor and at several physicians offices in Merkel and Clyde. After retiring from nursing in the late 1980s, she served as a front office administrator for Outreach Health Services in Abilene.

Survivors include her children, Dennis Wayne Holder of Coos Bay, Oregon, Charlotte Ann Newton of Bossier City, Louisiana, and Barry Don Pupella and wife Rhonda of Abilene grandchildren, Kim Barber, Toni Newton, Faith Pupella and Tia Pupella great grandchildren, Derrick Ehrhard, Wayne Helms, and SarahBeth Newton and greatgreat grandchildren, Alexus, Noah, and Kaiden Ehrhard, and Bailey Helms.

Her parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters and her soninlaw, Weldon Newton preceded her in death.
