Arthur "Bobby" Thompson, 70, passed away April 17, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 28, 2018 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
Bobby was born December 24, 1947 in Texarkana, TX to parents, the late Arthur Sr. and Ocie Thompson. He graduated from high school in Texarkana before attending Southern State College in Arkansas. He received his Master's degree in Social Work for Our Lady of the Lake university in San Antonio. He began his career with the Texas Department of Human Services in 1973 in New Boston, TX and then transferred to Abilene in 1976. He spent the last twenty years working as a nursing home surveyor before retiring in 2015 after a forty-year career. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
He loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and the New York Yankees. Enjoyed watching the WWE, collecting baseball cards, Hot Wheels, and was an avid reader.
He was a good man that loved his family, his pets, and most of all being PePaw to his grandchildren.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Christine; five children, Bobby Thompson III, Karleen Martinez and husband Jose, Paul Thompson and wife Melanie, Travis Thompson and girlfriend Josie, and Amanda Thompson; fifteen grandchildren; his best friend Paul Draper; his uncle, Wayne; several cousins; and his four dogs and one cat.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations in Bobby's honor to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1651 Pine Street, Abilene, TX 79601
