Barbara Jeanne Brown Dunn, 77, of Abilene passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015 in Abilene.
Rosary and viewing will be held Thursday, March 26, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South, Abilene, Texas. Funeral service will be Friday March 27th, at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5410 Buffalo Gap Rd, Abilene, Texas. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 HWY 277 South.
Barbara was born in Baird, Texas on June 6, 1937 to Aubrey Kenneth Brown and Bonnie Jeanne Austin Brown, both deceased. She was the eldest of five children, which included Kenneth Brown, Donald Brown, Ginger Smith and John Brown.
Barbara attended St. Joseph Academy in Abilene, Texas and married her high school sweetheart and true love of her life, Billy Bob Dunn, on March 21, 1953. They were married for 62 years. While raising six children Barbara graduated from Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing in Abilene, Texas in 1972. She was a dedicated LVN and retired from Hendricks Medical Center in 1985. After her retirement, Barbara and Bill enjoyed many years of pleasure traveling throughout the country in their RV, entertaining family and friends, and loving their home and family.
Barbara was a beautiful person inside and out. She truly was a loving, kind, caring, and generous wife, mother, sister, grandmother (Mammaw), and great grandmother who loved her family deeply. She was a devout Catholic who embraced her faith wholeheartedly and loved her church, Holy Family. When you were around Barbara you felt her kindness and love for everyone. She cared so deeply for her St Joseph friends. Heaven truly gained an angel, because she was an angel on earth.
Barbara is survived by husband Bill; daughter Terri Younglove Gloyd and her husband Russell of Abilene, Texas, sons Bill Dunn and his wife Rosemary of Desoto, Texas, Mickey Dunn and his wife Candy of Flower Mound, Texas; daughters Angela Dunn of Abilene, Texas, Mary Margaret Dunn Garza and her husband Danny of Temple, Texas and Paula Dunn Williams and her husband Quincy of Southlake, Texas. Mother loved her precious dog, Rio.
Survivors also include eight grandchildren; Lisa Reese, Zach White, Diana Garza, Cody Dunn, will Dunn, Maraya Dunn, Gentry Williams and Elizabeth Williams; along with seven great grandchildren.
