Barbara Huff

Barbara Huff, 85, passed away Friday, September 16, 2016 at Christopher House Hospice in Austin. She had lived at Falcon Ridge Rehab since May of 2015 due to a massive stroke. Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Memorial will be 10:00 AM Monday, September 19, 2016 at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. The family will hold a private interment.

Barbara was born November 5, 1930 in Texarkana, Arkansas. She grew up in Fouke, Arkansas an only child, where she and her husband Felton Huff graduated high school. She married Felton in 1949. They moved many times in their married life with their two children, Ron and Renee'. They made Abilene their home in 1969. Felton died of a massive heart attack in 1983 at the age of 51. Barbara remarried twice to two wonderful men, David Cummings and Fred Decker, who both died of terminal illnesses later in their marriage.

Barbara was a vivacious lady of the town who was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority for over 43 years. She belonged at one time to every dance club in Abilene, played in bridge clubs three times a week, and belonged to many supper clubs for which she was hostess in her home. She was a fabulous dresser. Never set out for even the dollar store without "dressing to the nine". She loved decorating her home and redecorating it, always in fashion with her home and clothes. She never sat still, always on the go, to which her many friends can attest to. She worked for Dr. Irby Fox as a receptionist for many years. She and her third husband, Fred Decker, loved building spec homes together…he was the engineer and she was the decorator.

Barbara, always the social butterfly, will also be missed by all who loved her at Falcon Ridge Rehab.

Barbara is survived by one daughter, Renee' White of Hutto; four grandchildren, Shane White and wife Shannon; Jon Paul Huff and wife Stacy; Ronny Huff and wife Brandi; and Casey Huff, all of Abilene. She had nine great-grandchildren: Dayton White, Daylee White, Bradley Huff, Jared Huff, Christian Huff, Alexis Huff, Morgan Huff, Cayden Huff and Carleigh Huff.

Barbara reunited through death with her first husband of 32 years, Felton Huff; her mother and father, Drew and Verner Huff of Fouke, Arkansas; her son Ron Huff; and her father and mother-in-law, Walter and Arvia Huff of Fouke, Arkansas.
