Benita Gonzalez

Benita S. Gonzalez., 72, passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 in Tuscola.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Benita was born July 13, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas to Evaristo and Eloisa Rivas Segura. She met Cruz Gonzalez in Denver, Colorado, where it was love at first sight. Cruz won her heart by playing guitar and singing "It's Now Or Never." On November 2, 1959, the couple began their 56 year journey in Seminole, Texas.

Benita worked for Del Monte in Crystal City over 40 years before moving to Tuscola in 2011. She was a member of Gethsemane Assembly of God Church. She was a loving housewife who loved decorating, gardening, landscaping and being outdoors. She loved her family and grandchildren.

Benita is survived by her husband, Cruz; four children, Raul Gonzalez and wife Ester of Abilene, Eva Mata and husband Luis of Austin, Javier Gonzalez of Abilene, and Cruz Gonzalez, Jr. of Cedar Park; three grandchildren, Louie Mata, Debbie Mata and Alyssa Gonzalez; three great-grandchildren, Lillie Gideon, Haylie Gideon, and Landry Marie Beaird; one brother Ernesto Segura and wife Margaret of Abilene; and two sisters, Sally Carreon and husband Raul of Abilene, and Soila Ramos of Midland.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother and her brother, Evaristo Segura, Jr.
