Bennie Ben Radford Brown, 78, of Abilene passed away Friday August 15, 2014 in Abilene.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday August 19, 2014 at 10 AM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Texas Veterans Cemetery of Abilene. Visitation will be held Monday from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Ben was born in Centrahoma, Oklahoma on May 11, 1936 to the late Luxie Ben and Marie Farrell Brown. He married Patricia W. Weiss on June 25, 1960 in Maryland. She preceded him in death. Ben graduated from Arlington High School and joined the United States Navy. During his enlistment he served several tours overseas and retired in 1975 as a Chief Petty Officer. Ben received numerous awards during his 21 year career and was a master mason.

Ben is survived by his son Gregory Ben Brown brother Weldon Brown and wife Martha of Durant, OK sister, Winona Vaughn and husband Don of Henrietta, OK nieces Cindy Mae and husband Mike of New Mexico, Markita Tyre and husband Mike of Killeen nephews, Darryl Masoner of Tulsa, OK, Weldon Brown II of Fort Worth, TX and Clayton Vaughn and wife Cleta of Henrietta, OK.
