Bennie Graves, 76, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 in Abilene. His funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 5th in the ElliottHamil Funeral Home Chapel, 5701 HWY 277 South. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time on Saturday.
Bennie was born in Borger, Texas on November 29, 1934 the son of William Bill Graves and Lucille Snowden Graves. He grew up in Wellington, Texas where he graduated from Wellington High School and immediately began serving his country, first in the National Guard and later in the U.S. Navy. He married Judy Pinkerton on his birthday in 1958. Bennie worked for International Harvester from 19581999, including 25 years with R.L. Anderson International Trucking in Abilene. He enjoyed wood working, fishing, and most recently doing genealogy research and playing on the computer. He was a Mason.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Judy Graves of Abilene three sons, Bennie Ray Graves of Channelview, Timothy Bob Graves and wife Rhonda of Abilene, Leslie Gene Graves and wife Pam of Lubbock he was Grumpa to four grandchildren, Austin Daniel Graves, Rachel Jenae Graves, Michael Dirk Graves and Kadie Lee Graves one sister, Julia Ann Levine of Azle one brother, Walter Graves of Springtown his stepmother, LaFawn Graves of Whitt and numerous nieces, nephews and inlaws.
