It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Betty Bernell Alford on 4/1/25. A beloved mother, grandmother, partner, aunt and friend.
Survived by her daughter, Theresa Taft, grandchildren Jamie (Cory) Johnson, Scott (Erin) Taft, great grandchildren, Landry Johnson and Levi Johnson . With many nieces and nephews. And a very special man, Jimmie Ford. A loving and caring partner for the last 18 years. Jimmie was her world. Together they were a beautiful couple.
Preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years Sam W Alford. Siblings, Billy Moore, Charlsie Jean Parker, Patsy Martin, Cecil Keeney and Donald Keeney.
Betty was born in Coleman, TX ,9-18-1934. Married at 21, moved to Abilene where she lives her whole life. For over 35 yrs (1973- 2008) Betty enjoyed a wonderful career as the secretary for Cisco Jr College School of Nursing Program. She loved her job and enjoyed the energy of the young students. In her spare time bowling was a true passion.. She was active in many bowling leagues, over the years. There are many trophies, pins and patches to acknowledge her high achievements in this sport. Bowling was where she meet Jimmie. Together they enjoyed bowling 2 - 3 times a week. She had a funny sense of humor. Was kind, giving and loving. A member of the Trinity Baptist Church for many years. Her close family had a pet name for her - Beautiful Betty Boop.
We will carry a void in our hearts. Betty will be missed as she was truly loved by many.
