Betty Gregory

September 25, 1939 — September 7, 2021

Betty Gregory, 81, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 in Abilene, Texas. A graveside service will be 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 9, 2021 in Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
Betty was born September 25, 1939 in Savannah Georgia to Lorenzo and Letha West. On June 7, 1957 Betty married the love of her life Jerry Gregory in South Carolina. The couple enjoyed square dancing in the middle years of their lives. Betty held down the home while Jerry was in the Air Force serving our country. Once the family was transferred to Dyess Air Force Base in 1968, Betty took a job at Dyess Federal Credit Union in the loan department and worked there for over 20 years. She was put together and always looked her best. Betty enjoyed walking, the Texas Rangers, and the Dallas Cowboys. Betty was known as The Candy Lady around Abilene because she always had mints or butter scotch in her pockets to give to random people at her discretion. Her cooking will be dearly missed because she was the best cook. More than anything she was the best mother and grandmother. Betty will be missed dearly every day.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry Gregory; five brothers; and one sister.
Betty is survived by her children, Ty Gregory, and Tina Scalf and husband Randy; three grandchildren, Cy Gregory, Sydne Terrell and husband Josh, and Maddy Green and husband James; three great grandchildren, Owen Green, Ellison Green, and Lawson Terrell; two brothers, Lonnie West of South Carolina, and Joe West of Savannah Georgia; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
