Betty Powers

Betty Powers, 76, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at her home in Hawley. There will be a graveside funeral service at 2:00 PM in the Garden of Hope at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South.

Betty was born in Lamerthiem, Germany on September 17, 1935 to parents Philapina Eisenower and John Hamm. She had four sisters Ella, Annslise, Emma, and Annamarie, and one brother, Rudy. She met the love of her life, William E. Powers while he was stationed in Germany for the US Army. They were married in Lamerthiem on March 6, 1956. She traveled with her husband all over and supported him in his career. She had a way of making a home at every place the Army took them until his retirement in 1975, when they settled in Harrisburg, Arkansas. In the late 90s they moved to Hawley, Texas. Betty enjoyed knitting and crochet and loved her animals, especially feeding the birds and squirrels.

Betty is survived by her son, John Powers and wife Sue of Anson two grandchildren, Amy Sue Powers and Christopher John Powers, both of Abilene one greatgrandson, Joshua Michael Powers.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Billy Joe Powers.
