Betty Jo Reagan was born in Littlefield, Texas on September 8, 1921. She passed away peacefully at Care Inn shortly after midnight on February 18, 2013, at the age of 91. Mom grew up in Amarillo, graduating from Amarillo High School as did her siblings.
She married the love of her life, Vernon Reagan, on December 24, 1940 in Amarillo, where they resided for many years. They were married for 67 years until Dads passing in February, 2008. During their years in Amarillo, Mom was a faithful, active member of Washington Avenue Christian Church.
Mom was a homemaker and volunteered for many years as a Pink Lady at St. Anthonys Hospital. She also went to many surrounding small towns and helped establish Pink Lady Organizations for their hospitals. Always interested in nursing, she eventually went to school and became an LVN. Afterward, she worked for many years at St. Anthony Hospital and for 10 years at the Northwest Psychiatric Pavilion.
Upon her retirement, Mom and Dad moved to California and spent many wonderful years traveling all over the United States. They moved to Abilene in 1993 after Dads illness prevented them from traveling. Living in Abilene, Mom was able to spend many wonderful times with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Betty Jo Reagan was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, her parents, siblings, her lifelong friends, and a grandson, Shane Farr.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue Farr Larry grandchildren, Leigh Anne Campbell Al, Kirk Lomax Melissa, Kim Roohms JJ, and Kristy Edmonson Michael 10 great grandchildren and 3 greatgreat grandsons. Left with wonderful memories of their Aunt Bets are nieces, Pat Murr, Kay Hendrickson and Carel Lehnardt and nephew, Jim Woodard.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday February 23rd in the Garden of Hope at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 HWY 277 South.
The family would like to thank the wonderful folks at Care Inn for their tender, loving care of Betty. Also, special gratitude goes to Hendrick Hospice nurse, Jodi Fry, and Serena, known to Mom as Little Bit.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the local Alzheimers Office, 301 S. Pioneer Dr., STE 105, Abilene, TX 79605 in memory of Vernon and Betty Reagan.
