Betty Willingham

Betty Frances "Betsy" Willingham went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 24, 2015 in Abilene following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services for Betsy will be held on Monday, October 26 at 2 p.m. at Crescent Heights Baptist Church under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home with internment to follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.
Betsy was born on April 1, 1932 and was raised in Murray, TX, the daughter of the late Roy and Clara Moreland. She was a lifelong resident of Abilene. In her early years Betsy helped with her family's farm and enjoyed being with friends and loved ones. She met her husband Gary, while her sister was dating his best friend. They were married on Christmas day in 1951 at the local preacher's house in Breckenridge, TX.
After Betsy and Gary were married, he joined the Air Force, then after 2 years, they moved back to Abilene where Betsy was a homemaker first and foremost. Betsy was generous and passionate about serving others and Christ as a member of Crescent Heights Baptist Church for over 60 years. Betsy was an avid antique collector and especially enjoyed her beloved doll collection. She also loved her dogs and enjoyed catching up with friends on the telephone, and spoiling grandchildren.
Betsy was preceded in death by her husband Gary Willingham, her sister Lois Spears, her brother Bud Moreland and her parents Roy and Clara Moreland. She is survived by her son Kerry Willingham and wife Debbie of Edmond, Ok; son Kevin Willingham and wife Anne of Tyler, TX; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; many close friends including her faithful caregiver for 10 years Margaret Lewis.
The family request memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to the Crescent Heights Baptist Church at 1902 N Mockingbird Ln, Abilene, TX 79603.
