Beverly Sue Ridgway, 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her loving family on November 14, 2023, in Abilene, Texas. She was born on March 19, 1941, to Byrl and Lucille Hohler in Rosiclare, Illinois. A visitation will be 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM on Thursday, November 16, 2023 in the Elmwood Funeral Home's Family Center, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, November 17, 2023 at Elmwood West Methodist Church 1302 South Pioneer Drive, Abilene, Texas. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Beverly's journey through life was marked by resilience, love, and a profound commitment to family. In the vibrant city of Wichita, Kansas, she crossed paths with the love of her life, Jim Ridgway, during a blind date at Joyland Amusement Park. Their love story blossomed, leading to a union in marriage in 1960. Jim, serving in the Airforce, faced multiple deployments, and Beverly stood steadfast on the home front, demonstrating strength and grace. She, along with her two young children, courageously ventured to England and Japan during Jim's assignments.
The Airforce eventually brought them to Abilene, Texas, where they would create a life together and retire. Beverly was the unwavering support in Jim's life, standing by him through thick and thin.
A long-time, dedicated member of Elmwood West Methodist Church, Beverly found joy in fellowship, playing bunco, and serving the Lord. She served alongside Jim as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and the Methodist Food Pantry.
Known for her spunk and mischievous spirit, Beverly brought laughter and light to those around her. She received great enjoyment from her daily dose of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. However, above all, Beverly cherished her family. She received great joy from her role as wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Jim Ridgway.
Beverly is survived by her children, Cheryl Hatcher and husband Jeff, and Michael Ridgway; her grandchildren, Kirby Salome and husband Ryan, Jordan Loomis and husband Chance, and Kathryn Ridgway; her great grandchildren, Oliver, Daniel, and Sage; her brother, Jerry Hohler and wife Linda; and her special caregiver, Nilsa Munoz.
Beverly Sue Ridgway leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and laughter. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she find eternal peace in the arms of Jesus.
Memorials may be made to Elmwood West Methodist Church or the Methodist Food Pantry.
