Billie Meredith

Billie Jean Meredith, 82, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016. Graveside services will be 4:00 PM Friday, June 10, 2016 at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 PM Friday, June 10, 2016 at Elmwood Funeral Home.

Billie Jean was born January 8, 1934 in Portales, New Mexico to J.E. and Velma Paige Gresham. She married John Clinton in 1954 in Lubbock, Texas. The couple had four children. She later married Donald Meredith, who preceded her in death. She loved upholstery work, farming and collecting junk items for her flea market outside of Lubbock. She served as a hostess for the Lubbock Women's Club, a duty that she was extremely proud of.

She loved everyone, and everyone loved her. She was known as "Granny" to everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Charles Clinton; and one brother.

She is survived by three children, Paul Clinton and wife Lisa of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Kathy Spencer of Abilene; Elaine Phipps and husband Jim of Abilene; two brothers, Rodney and Jimmy Gresham; four sisters, Doris McCurdy, Charlene Bouldin, Janet Carter and Darlene Osborne; 10 grandchildren, Nicole, Lucas, Anya, Brayden, Shannon, Brent, Tonya, Bill, Mandy and Ellen; and 16 great-grandchildren.
