Billie Smoote Wells, 87, of Abilene, died on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at a local nursing center.
There will be a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy. 277 South. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bryan Hicks officiating; interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park in the Ten Commandments Garden.
Billie was born on March 11, 1921 in San Angelo, Tx. She married William Lenzy Wells in 1941 and she enjoyed being a homemaker and raising two sons. When her health allowed she enjoyed playing Skipbo at the Rose Park Sr. Citizens. She loved spending time with her chickadees Stephanie and Ashleigh. For the last several years she has lived at the Chisholm House and Sears Methodist Center, where she enjoyed living and was loved by the residents and caregivers. The family wishes to extend a great big thank you to the Chisholm House and Sears Methodist Center for the wonderful love and care that Billie received.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Wanda Wells and Jimmy and Linda Wells; four grandsons and their wives, Tim and Sharon, Jonathan and Debra , Jimmy Ray, and Ricky and Ida Wells; granddaughter, Stephanie and husband, Mike Harris; great grandchildren, Ashleigh Harris, Ethan , Sarah , Casey , Terrance , Tara and Tanner Wells; and a very special friend for more than 30 years, Doris Shoop.
