Billy K. Carter, 66, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. till 4:00 p.m., Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 10, 2016 at the Texas State Veteran's Cemetery of Abilene.
Billy was born May 30, 1950 in Houston, AR to parents, Fred and Mildred Carter. He graduated High School in Perryville, AR. After high school he joined the United States Air Force where he faithfully served our country for twenty years. His service included several stations and deployments including the Vietnam War. He met and married Mali during his time in Thailand and they enjoyed 45 years of marriage together. After moving to Abilene in 1985 and retiring from the Air Force he worked for Lockheed Martin for ten years. He enjoyed sports, especially football, gardening and spending time with family.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mali; his son, Fred Carter and wife Ayako of Okinawa Japan; his grandson Kentoro Carter; his sister Patricia "Be-Be" Coffey and husband John of Houston, AR; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clennon Carter, Fred Allen Carter, Ricky Carter; two sisters, Carolyn Mahan, and Linda Maxey.
The family would like to give a special "Thank You!" to all the doctors, nurses, and caregivers that took such great care of the family during this difficult time.
