Billy D. Terrell, 82, of Abilene died Friday, June 3, 2011 at a local nursing home.
He was born May 12, 1929, in Content, TX to J.E. and Willie Terrell. On January 16, 1954, he married Naomi Rice and six years later they were blessed with their only child, Donna, who was born in Brownfield, TX. During their marriage, they lived in Winters, TX, Brownfield, TX Natchitoches, LA, and Abilene, TX for the last 19 years.
Billy served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1949. He was employed by Dry Manufacturing, Halliburton, and retired in 1986 with 30 years of service from Placid Oil Company.
He was a member of Broadview Baptist Church, a member of the Phoenix Masonic Lodge in Natchitoches, LA, the Shriners of North America in Shreveport, LA, and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in Monroe, LA.
Billy enjoyed his four Pomeranians and watching game shows and golf on television.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his daughter, Donna Jennings 1 sister, Henrietta Frierson 6 brothers, J.T. Goode, Buford Goode, Leachen J. Terrell, Lawton Terrell, Milton Terrell, and Carroll Terrell.
Survivors include: his wife, Naomi 1 sisterinlaw, Lois Terrell of Eastland, TX, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:008:00 pm on Sunday, June 5 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South in Abilene. A memorial service to celebrate Billys life will be held on Monday, June 6, at 10:30 am, at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. His nephews will serve as pallbearers.
