Bobby Lee Couch, 77 passed away in Abilene, Texas on March 30, 2023.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM on Monday, April 10, 2023, at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South, officiated by Larry Fitzgerald. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM following funeral services at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery of Abilene, 7457 W Lake Rd, Abilene, Texas.
Bobby was born in Littlefield, Texas on June 10, 1945, to his parents James Hubert and Lucille Couch. He married his wife Alicia Wimberley on August 8, 1964, Bobby professed his love to Alicia in the fifth grade. He served in the Army in 1963. Bobby became a mechanic by accident, soon falling in love with working on race cars and building engines. He would race in Abilene wearing 25 for his racing number. Bobby loved to watch NASCAR, his favorite racers were #24 Jeff Gordon and #48 Jimmy Johnson. He was a dog lover and loved all his dogs. Bobby loved the Lord; he would lead the singing in Church at Plain View Church of Christ. He was a great father, brother, grandfather, and friend, he will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.
Bobby is survived by his daughters, Terri Lynn Couch, Robbie Lee Price, Sandy Renee Couch; son Joe Michael Couch; sisters, Judy and husband Lonnie Bevel, Linda Couch; brother, Val Joe and wife Janice Mahann Couch; 16 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren.
Bobby is preceded in death by father, James Hubert Couch; mother, Lucille Couch; wife, Alicia Wimberley; sister, Mona Latricia Dixon.
The family would like to thank Mitchell County Hospital, Veteran State Hospital in Big Spring, Texas, Hendrick Medical Center South, his veteran home nurse April Forbes for helping to provide excellent care to Bobby. The family would also like to thank Joe Couch for his last efforts caring for dad for the last two years, Robbie and Krystin Price for helping with care for the last 2 months, and Terri Couch for helping with the first month.
