Braulio Gonzales

Braulio Gonzales Sr. beloved son, brother, husband and father died Monday, December 5, 2011 in Abilene. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 9th in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with interment following in the Highland Cemetery in Stamford. Visitation is from 6:00 to 7:00 PM with Prayer Service starting at 7:00 PM on Thursday at Elmwood Funeral Home.

Braulio Gonzales Sr. was born on October 12, 1928 in Brownsville, Texas. He married Maria Zavala on May 10, 1950 and they moved to Stamford, Texas in 1963 where he was a farmer and a custodian in LuedersAvoca. Braulio gave his life to the Lord on July 14, 1968, at First Baptist Mission in Stamford and was a faithful member of Israel Baptist Church in Abilene.

Braulio believed and trusted in Christ until his final days. He has planted and left behind seeds that today are being cultivated in pastors, ministers, teachers, and nurses. His love for God and his family reached beyond the ends of the earth.

He is preceded in death by his father, Nicholas Gonzales, his mother, Nasaria Gonzales, a son, Juanito Gonzales, and a great granddaughter, Allie Rose Delgado.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Maria Gonzales of Abilene one brother, Florencio Gonzales one sister, Delores Guitterez his children, Braulio Gonzales Jr. of Abilene, Florentino Gonzales Sr. of Flagstaff, Arizona, Guadalupe Gonzales of Abilene, Irma Cordero of Abilene, Hector Gonzales of Grand Prairie, Helen Rosas of Abilene, and Eva Hernandez of Eastland. He was blessed with 25 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer heartfelt gratitude to the angels who cared for him, Sorinda Meza and Ernestine Thompson, the staff of Sears Hospice Care, Wincrest Alzheimers Care Center, Jordan Health Care Services and special thanks to Wanda Westbrook
