Brenda Miller

August 18, 1950 — October 2, 2021

Brenda Miller of Abilene, went to be with our Lord on October 2, 2021.  There will be a private family service on October 08, 2021, at the Elmwood Funeral Home.

Brenda was born on August 18, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas, to Chalmers and Nan Hooe.  Her father was a career Air Force Noncommissioned Officer, and her childhood was spent in numerous locations like Texas, Kansas, Panama, and Spain.  When her father retired from the Air Force, the family settled in Abilene, Texas, and Brenda graduated from Cooper High School.

While living in Abilene, Brenda worked in numerous administrative positions in manufacturing at Timex, Texas Instruments and General Dynamics/Lockheed. After Lockheed closed the Abilene Facility, Brenda worked in administration at Lauren Engineering and for a while at Abilene ISD.  In her spare time, Brenda loved to garden, complete jigsaw puzzles, and was talented at arts and crafts projects. She was a very likable and sociable lady and loved to share mimosa drinks with relatives and friends. After a life changing aneurism in 2005, Brenda maintained her positive attitude and never complained about her physical handicaps.  She was very spiritual and truly an inspiration to all who knew her.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Chalmers and Nan Hooe; son, Robby Oliveira; and sister, Betty Novak.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Paul of Abilene; sons, Gary Miller of Abilene, Michael Miller and wife Trisha of Lewisville TX; brother, Charles Hooe and wife Sandra of El Paso TX; brother-in laws, Fred Novak of Abilene, David Miller and wife Shannon of Roundrock TX, Steve Miller and wife Lorella of Benbrook TX; sister-in-Law, Lynn Payne and husband Bill of Coupland TX; and nephew, David Hooe of Austin, TX.

The family would like to thank West Texas Rehabilitation Center for their outstanding support helping Brenda since 2005 and Hendrick Hospice Care for providing comfort and compassion in her final days.  We would also like to thank Tylee Turnerhill for her love and friendship while helping to care for Brenda.
