Burl Nash, 96, passed away on January 18, 2022 in Abilene, Texas. A visitation will be 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Elmwood Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM following the visitation in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
Burl was born October 27, 1925 to Winfred and Lela Nash in Rotan, Texas. As a young boy Burl farmed cotton with his father in Fisher County. On January 28, 1944 Burl joined the United States Army and served his country in World War II. During that time his father Winfred was serving in the War as well and the two actually met in Paris, France at one point. Later in life Burl became a general contractor and owned Burl Nash Contractors. On February 11, 2000 Burl married Wanda and the couple spent 21 beautiful years together. Burl was known by his grandchildren as PePaw and he loved them dearly. Burl was a long time member of Faith Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Winfred and Lela; his sister and brother in law, Delores and Don Derrick; and his son in law, Ronnie Lorenz.
Burl is survived by his wife, Wanda Nash; his daughters, Darla Lorenz Pfeifer and her husband Walt, and Scottye Bourland and her husband Jay; his stepson, Tony Wyatt and his wife Kayla; six grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made to the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene or Hendrick Hospice.
