Byrda Woodard

Byrda Mae Woodard, 73, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014 in Abilene. Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 24th in the First Baptist Church Chapel, 1333 N. 3rd Street with interment following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.

Byrda was born in Childress, Texas on April 7, 1940 where she grew up and graduated from high school. She married Floyd Woodard on March 20, 1971. She worked for Lone Star Gas for 33 years in both Childress and Wichita Falls before moving to Abilene in 1995 where she worked several years at HardinSimmons University. Byrda was a loving Christian wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed researching her familys genealogy and doting on and spoiling her granddaughters.

Survivors include her husband Floyd Woodard of Abilene her son and daughterinlaw, Scott and Jennifer Woodard of Abilene her granddaughters, London, Mollie and Emmerson Woodard and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Her parents Jesse Windle and Lenna Lee Johnson Vandiver and her brother, Wendall Vandiver preceded her in death.
