Charleen Thompson

Charleen LaRae Thompson, 90, passed away, Wednesday, May 17, 2023 in Abilene, Texas. A visitation will be 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM, Monday, May 22, 2023 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A funeral service will follow the visitation beginning at 2:00 PM. Interment will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Charleen was born January 30, 1933 to Andrew and Helen Dickinson in Gilbert, Iowa. She was a proud military wife and held down the home front while her husband George served his country. For years Charleen worked as a seamstress for the public. Charleen worked 20 years for Hendrick Medical Center as a medical transcriber. She enjoyed calligraphy, crocheting, knitting, crafting, playing the piano, and singing. She was a long-time member of First Central Presbyterian Church in Abilene. Above all Charleen was a very loving, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her love has left a legacy that will continue for generations to come.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, George Thompson; her parents, Andrew and Helen Dickinson; and her six siblings.
Charleen is survived by her children, Merrie Rogge and her husband Richard, Richard Lee Thompson and his wife Joann, and George Steven Thompson and his wife Trisha; her grandchildren, James Rogge, Diana MaGouirk, Robert Kyle Thompson and his wife April, Randall Thompson and his wife Brittany, Erin Henry, and Emily Strong; and 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces.
