Charlene Gilbreath Neese, 80, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012 in Abilene. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 25th in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with a private family burial following in the Garden of Memories at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation is from 6:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
Charlene was born in Waldron, Arkansas on February 25, 1932 the daughter of Charlie Jackson Gilbreath and Viola Carter Gilbreath. She married Ernest Eugene Gene Neese on November 25, 1952 and they came to Abilene in 1969 when Gene was stationed at Dyess Air Force Base towards the end of his career with the Air Force. Charlene worked for Cassle Cassle for many years and was a faithful member of Elmcrest Baptist Church where she and Gene enjoyed working in the church library. Charlene also enjoyed sewing and working in her garden.
Survivors include her son, John Neese and wife Melissa of Abilene her brother, E.C. Gilbreath and wife Barbara of Ft. Smith, Arkansas her sister, Alice Coleman of Hot Springs, Arkansas and a sisterinlaw, Sue Hensley and husband Don of Salisaw, Oklahoma,
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Coronado Nursing Home for the love and compassion that they showed Charlene as a resident there.
