Charles Burnett

Charles Ray Burnett, 80, of Tuscola, passed away on February 15, 2008 at a local hospital.

Visitation for family and friends will be 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2008 at Elmwood Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 18, 2008 at First Baptist Church Tuscola with Rev. Buddy Goodgame officiating. Burial will be in Alameda Cemetery, near Lake Leon at 3:00 p.m. with military honors.

Charles was born on March 13, 1927 to Lloyd and Nettie Burnett in Ranger, TX. He joined the United States Navy at the age of 17, and he served twenty-three and half years; while in the military all four of his children were born. He received the honor of Sailor of the Month several times. He married Wilda Cumby on August 17, 1985 at the First Methodist Church in Tuscola.

He is survived by his wife, Wilda of Tuscola; his step-children, Kyle and wife Rhonda Swinney of Abilene, Tod and wife, Kathie Gathings of Weatherford; his children, Ricky Burnett of Richardson, Ray and wife, Phyllis Burnett of Allen, Gwenlyn Burnett of Richardson, Rhonda and husband, Jesse Morris of Abilene; ten grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
