Charles Davis

Charles Ray Davis, 80, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014 in Abilene. He was born August 26, 1933 in Yazoo City, Mississippi to Icey Josephene ChisholmDavis and Erskin M. Davis. He was preceded in death by his sister Johnnie Mae HallSterling.
Mr. Davis served in the United States Air Force from 1953 until his retirement in 1973. He worked numerous jobs until his final working retirement in 1999.

Mr. Davis was a member of Broadview Baptist Church and was active with the Faith class. He and his wife Jessie were also active with the Hospice of the Big Country for several years after retiring.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jessie Davis, daughter Kay Barmore and husband Leman of Crews, TX, son William Ray Davis and wife Melody of Amarillo, TX, son Charles Wesley Davis and wife Becky of Abilene and daughter Linda Cargile and husband Brian of Abilene, six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful for the loving care of the staff at Windcrest Alzheimers Center Dr. Sandi Haislip and Dr. Dean Schultz who so lovingly cared for Mr. Davis during his illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to the building fund of Broadview Baptist Church, Hospice of the Big Country or the Activity fund at Windcrest Alzheimers Center.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 till 7:00 PM, Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Broadview Baptist Church, 2500 South 27th Street.
