Charles Woodrow Hansen, age 82, of Early died Wednesday afternoon at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:30 PM Saturday in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel in Abilene with Dale Meinecke officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Memorial Park. The body will lie in state at Heartland Funeral Home in Early from 8 8 PM on Thursday. A visitation will be held at Elmwood Funeral Home in Abilene from 6 7:30 PM on Friday.
He was born May 24, 1926 in Anson, Texas the son of the late Sam and Birtie Drewey Hansen. Following high school, he served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was married to Thelma Thane in Anson on August 16, 1944. She preceded him in death on May 10, 2008. He farmed most of his life and also was the former owner of Hansen Pest Control in Stamford for several years. He was a former member of the Fair Park Methodist Church in Abilene prior to moving to Stamford where he was a member of St. Johns Methodist Church. He later served as Lay Leader of the Avoca Methodist Church.
Following retirement, he and his wife moved to Early in 2002.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-laws,

4 Grandchildren Christy Meinecke and husband Dale of Comanche
Dana Manning and husband Brian of Flower Mound
Tifnee Reed and husband Justin of Stamford
Ty Lopez of Stamford
8 Great Grandchildren also survive
He is also survived by a brother Ray Hansen and wife Nancy of BryanCollege Station
A Sister Della Cooper and husband Jimmy of Anson
A host of nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
