Charles Ray Lightfoot Sr., 82, of Abilene went home Saturday, December 22, 2018 in Abilene.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 26 from 6 to 8 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home. A private, sunrise graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 10 AM at the First Baptist Church Buffalo Gap.
Charles was born September 26, 1936 on the Waggoner Ranch near Vernon, TX., to Bythel Andrew Lightfoot and Arlie Bolin Lightfoot. He was a graduate of Wylie High School. He loved our country and was proud to serve in the United States Navy.
Charles married Sallie Parker on June 30, 1961 in the Caps Baptist Church. He was an active member and deacon of the First Baptist Church Buffalo Gap. He and Sallie enjoyed working in children's groups through the church. He loved watching his sons play sports and coached them in Little League. He worked and retired from Merchant Motor Lines after 31 years of service. As a craftsman, he enjoyed woodworking and making jewelry. He loved to collect, polish and hunt for rocks and was an active member of the Central Texas Gem and Mineral Society for many years. He was a great story teller whose wit and humor will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Sallie Lightfoot; 2 sons, Charles Ray "Chuck" Lightfoot Jr. and wife Dawn, Christopher Lee Lightfoot and wife Kim; grandchildren, Charles Ray "CJ" Lightfoot III, Parker Harrison Lightfoot, and Jackson Patrick Travis Shoultz; numerous family and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Wayne Lightfoot.
The Lightfoot family would like to thank Visiting Angels, Beyond Faith and Hendrick Hospice for his care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Buffalo Gap Capitol Campaign Fund.
