Charles White

September 14, 1939 — January 17, 2024

Charles Franklin White passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 17, 2024 at the age of 84. "Bear", as his friends and family affectionately called him, was born on September 14, 1939 to Samuel Ava White and Grace Kathrine Logsdon White in Vernon, Texas. His family relocated to Abilene, Texas where Charles graduated from Abilene High School with the class of 1957, and he graduated from McMurry College in 1961 with a Bachelor's Degree of Business Administration. Charles was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas. After graduating from college, Charles worked for Abilene National Bank where he was quite successful and quickly worked his way up the ladder to become the youngest appointee to ever serve on ANB's board of directors. He later left Abilene National Bank to follow in the family tradition of his father and grandfather before him as a farmer and rancher in Jones county until his semi-retirement in the last decade. When not at their ranch or their cabin in Red River, Bear loved to travel the world with his beloved wife Sue (Bunnette), as much as he enjoyed her culinary expertise in the kitchen.

Charles is survived by Sue Simmons White, his loving wife of 47 years, his adoring children Martha Jane Webb (and husband James), Elliott Logsdon White (and wife Elsa) and Shannon Harvey Russell (and husband Mark), and his grandchildren, Ryan Scott Harris, Megan Renee Webb (and husband Ben), Jacquelina Michelle White, Samuel Elliott White, Raven Violet Rose Russell and Rhett Harvey Russell and great grandchildren Myles Ho and Myla Ho.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 20th at 2:00 PM at The Logsdon Chapel at Hardin Simmons University followed by a brief reception. Friends are then welcome to attend the burial service which will be held at Elmwood Memorial Park, (5750 US-277) in Abilene, Texas.

Memorials may be made to The West Texas Rehabilitation Center.

Bear's family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation for Visiting Angels and Enhabit Home Health and Hospice.
