Christina Guerrero Martinez returned to the home of our Divine Father on January 2, 2015 in Abilene, Texas at the age of 81.
Christina is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jesus Luevano Martinez, her children Greg Martinez and his wife Sylvia of Grand Prairie, Texas, Richard Martinez of Austin, TX, Christina Jane Martinez of Frisco, TX, and Elizabeth Pace and her husband Paul of Little, Elm, Texas.
Her grandchildren include Mathew Sean Martinez and Isabella Maria Pace. She has three great-grandchildren.
Christina was born on July 24, 1933 in New Braunfels, Texas to Santiago and Wenceslada Guerrero. Though Jesus and Christina's mothers were best friends through their common devotion and service to our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Braunfels, Texas neither Jesus or Christina saw each other as marriage partners until after Jesus Martinez returned to New Braunfels, Texas after serving in the Navy and re-enlisting in the Air Force.
Christina began her 58 years of marriage to Jesus in Abilene, Texas when he was stationed at Dyess Air Force Base. Their travels with the Air Force took them to Puerto Rico, Massachusetts, Guam, Virginia, Colorado and finally back to Abilene, Texas because Jesus and Christina believed that Abilene was a great place to retire and finish raising their family.
As an active member of her church, St. Vincent Pallotti, Christina received great fulfillment serving others through various ministries like the Daughter's of Mary, the Eucharistic Ministry, the Hospital Ministry, WHY Catholic (Bible study), the Bereavement and Hospitality Committee, and Wake Services.
Self-less is the best word to describe Christina as her God, children, and others always came before she ever considered any of her own needs.
Revelations 14:13
Happy are those who die In the Lord!
I, John, heard a voice from heaven say to me, 'Write down: Happy are those who die in the Lord! Happy indeed, the Spirit says; now they can rest for ever after their work, since their good deeds go with them.'

Christina's funeral mass will be at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church at 10:00AM on January 7, 2015 with Reverend Terry Brenon officiating the ceremony.
