Christine Lucille Lucy Abraham, 94, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2009 in Waco. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 28 at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park. br brMrs. Abraham was born in Woodson on February 4, 1915. The daughter of Joel Daniel Worley and Laura Kirk Worley, she grew up on farms in the area with her 10 brothers and sisters. She married Carl N. Abraham, the son of a store keeper in Woodson, on Christmas Eve in 1933. They lived in various places in Texas and New Mexico during the Depression as Carl worked where he could in the oilfields, as a truck driver, as a mechanic. In 1942 the family moved to Houston where Lucy worked in the shipyards as a welder supporting the war effort. After the war Lucy worked with Sears as the head of the bookkeepers department until her retirement.br brMrs. Abrahams great love was for her family. Everyone to great-grandnieces and nephews were her close family. In 1935 Lucys daughter Judy was born. She was their only child, and was the light of her life. Lucy was very proud of her daughter, who became an editor at the Abilene Reporter-News. Lucy and Carl moved to Abilene to live with Judy in 1988. Her home always remained the meeting place for family gatherings, birthdays, and Christmas.brLucy will be remembered for her vibrant personality, infectious sense of humor and love of life. She had a sweet spirit and wherever she was, was always home to her family.br brSurvivors include her grandchildren, Judith Zoon of Oakland, California, Jackie Nixon of Abilene, Carl Bargainer of San Antonio, and Tim Bargainer of Georgetown; and five great grandchildren, Leah Juarez, Jared Nixon, and Ben, Abigail and Marilee Bargainer. brbrHer daughter, her husband and 10 siblings preceded her in death.br
