Christine Bondick was born Christine Divita on October 9, 1929 in Smithers, West Virginia. Her parents were Mary Benny Divita. Her mother was a homemaker her father was a coal miner. She was the oldest of 10 children. She passed away on October 10, 2012. She was 83 years old.
She married Donald Francis Bondick on March 14, 1953, after meeting him at Carswell Air Force Base in Ft. Worth, TX while they were in the United States Air Force. Together they raised 6 children. Throughout their lives they lived in Ft Worth, Hawaii, Colorado, finally here in Abilene, Texas. They were married for 59 years.
Chris was always there for her family. Her husband always worked 2 jobs, and she helped supplement the family income by selling Avon or working in the school cafeteria so she would be home when her children got home from school. Chris and Don spent much of their later life in Abilene where Don retired from the Air Force in 1972. Except for the 10 years they were in Austin, this has been their home. She was always very involved in her church, singing in the choir helping with special events, she was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She loved working cross word puzzles and jumbles in the paper every day, and loved to step out in her high heeled shoes
Chris is survived by her husband, Donald Bondick 6 children their families: daughter Pamela Tompkins her daughter Jessica son Gregory Bondick, his wife Lynnette their two daughters Lyndsey Nicole daughter Melissa McDaniel, her husband Randy their children, Nathan, Tyler and Courtney daughter Debbie Burns, her husband Jerry their two children Ryan and Amy son Joseph Bondick, his wife Debra their children, Tonia Jordan, Sara Cleary, Summer Erika Bondick, Michele Wallace, Camilla Conley, Gary Ely: daughter Rebecca Bondick, 17 great grand children. She was expecting her 18th great granddaughter in November. She is also survived by 4 brothers, Tommy Divita, Frank Divita, Paul Divita, Gary Divita 3 sisters, Brenda Napier, Judy Goldsberry, Kathleen Crosby.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Phyllis McNeece Shirley Lowe her father, Benjamin Divita, her mother, Mary Divita, one soninlaw, Chuck Tompkins.
Her service will be at 10:00 AM, at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 5410 Buffalo Gap Rd., on Wednesday, October 17, 2012. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at 6:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home 5750 Hwy. 277 South followed by a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Burial will follow the services at Elmwood Memorial Park.
